Palm, well known for it’s Treo line, announced today the perfect mobile companion, the Foleo. To put it short, it’s a kind of laptop like viewing device that connects to your smartphone, retrieves your email and displays it on its 10 inch screen. Sporting a 10inch screen and full-size keyboard, Palm’s new device called Foleo — which the company’s founder Jef Hawkins talked up as a new product category in itself — is essentially a note-pad-sized laptop, designed specifically to dynamically sync with and compliment the computing power of a smart-phone.
All the details on Palm's new device, the Foleo, are out. They're calling it a "Smartphone companion product," it's got a 10-inch screen, full-size keyboard and built-in Wi-Fi. Edits on the Foleo automatically appear on a paired Smartphone, and data synchronizes with a dedicated button.
Traditionally, Samsung smartphones featured QWERTY keyboard, but that’s about to change, as the forthcoming i620 will be a QWERTY slider. The result is not great: when opened, i620 really looks good, but when it’s closed it’s too wide, almost a square.

Palm has at last unveiled the Foleo, one of the world's first smartphone companions. It's not a smartphone. It's not a handheld. It's not a laptop. It's from Palm Inc., and it doesn't even run Palm OS. It's the Foleo "mobile companion," the market of which seems to be thumbboard sufferers. Not sure who the market is for this, but at least it runs Linux!
